Noah, a boy about ten was walking down a dusty road about half a mile from his home. He wore overals that were meant for play. They were ripped on the knees, worn and faded. He climbed a tree. As he climbed he spied a cat high up in the branches. "Hey kitty!" He called out in a friendly voice. His short red hair was blowing in the breeze. He smiled as he climbed higher. "Ya scared?" He asked the cat as he climbed. He looked down. "Whew, how'd ya get so far up here, huh?" He asked as he sat on a branch for a minute. The cat looked down at him and then looked back up. I got mah sling shot in mah pocket, ya know, Mom says David from the Bible days had one of them things and he shot Goliath right in the face with it!" He exclaimed. He pulled out his slingshot and put a stone in it and shot it at a tree. Pop he heard as the stone hit the bark of the tree! "Ya ok cat?" He asked. The cat was looking at a bird. He decided to climb down. One branch at a time he went as he moved farther and farther down the tree. "Better put this slingshot in mah pocket, er it might get broked if it falls." He said to himself quietly as he looked at the cat for a momnet. The cat was pursuing a bird, then the bird hopped down a few branches. Then the cat followed the bird. "You hungry cat?" He called as he reached the bottom of the tree. He sat under the tree and opened his sack lunch that was in his backpack he left under the tree. He zipped it up and opened the bag. "Here kitty, kitty..." He called as he chomped on a pb and j sandwich he made himself before his mom got up that morning. He wrot e her a note and said he'd be on an adventure. The cat eventually hopped down off of the lowest part of the tree it was on and sat beside the boy. His name was Noah. "Hey cat, I'm Noah, what's yer name?" He asked with a smile. He saw a little container by the tree, "maybe to feed birds with?" he wondered. He put it on the ground and opened his thermas. He gave the cat a bit of milk and pushed the container near to the cat. Straight away it went to drinking the milk. So did Noah. He had a milk mushtach. He didn't even realize it. He put his thermas in the bag since he'd drank all his milk. "Ya know cat, the Bible times was neat, I think..." He went on talking about Johnah and the whale. "How'd he get in there, you think G-d did it?" he wondered aloud. "I bet G-d did it!" He exlaimed.
Say cat, what's yer name?" He asked as the cat came over to where he was seated under the tree and sat very close to him and purred. He put the bag in his backpack and sat there petting the cat. "Is it Smokey?" He asked. the cat just sat there purring. "Is it sammy?" He asked. The cat meowed and licked his to remove the left over milk. "Ah, sammy, huh?" Noah asked the cat as if it could answer him. "You know I bet we could have fun." Noah said to the cat with a smile.
